Emma | Niagara Newborn Photographer

I’m a little behind on my blogging, due to the fact that I was working my butt off trying to get everyone their portraits before going to Punta Cana for my friends wedding! But now I’m back and rested and ready to blog!

Emma. Oh Emma. You are just perfect.  After multiple newborns who put up quite the fight, I was beginning to think that I’d lost my touch – it was time to retire my “Baby Whisperer” shirt – literally! But Emma slept through her entire session, stayed in every pose I put her in and didn’t fuss. She was exactly what I needed to get me out of my funk!
Emma has the softest, shiniest hair I have ever seen on a newborn. So gorgeous, I can’t get over it!  These portraits are completely different than my usual style, but I am in love with them. She looks so comfy in the bucket!

Ripley | Niagara Newborn Photographer

This little beauty didn’t want to sleep, but that’s okay! Parents always LOVE opened eyed portraits. And I don’t think there’s any doubt that she’s going to have blue eyes!  Contrary to popular belief, skinny babies have the most rolls!! #extraskin  Ripley rocked this pose! Gosh, isn’t her little features so precious?!  My mom hand stitched this quilt for me, I love that I was able to incorporate it into Ripley’s session!

Lily&Cora | Niagara Pet Photographer

A couple of my favourites from my recent portrait session with Lily&Cora.  Cora’s litter-sister lives next door, so obviously we had to include her in a few portraits. I love how much this one looks like an album cover.  Lily and her two body guards! Don’t mess with these girls!

Jamisyn | Toronto Newborn Photographer

Occasionally I get asked to do sessions outside of the Niagara Region, Jamisyn was SO worth the drive to Toronto!  She rocked every pose, in newborn terms – she didn’t move! Not to mention she is the sweetest little girl, I just wanted to keep snuggling her after her session was over. She’s got the most adorable little features.  It was refreshing photographing a girl after so many boys, but Jamisyn did not love having headbands on, it was the only time she stirred while I was posing her.
Mom didn’t want anything too girly, I think this is the perfect amount!
Parents always love these open eyed portraits. Jamisyn kept her hand perfectly posed! Jamisyn’s big sister had a newborn portrait hanging on the wall in a similar pose, so I couldn’t help myself, I had to recreate it!  Aren’t those cheeks perfectly squishable?!

Conan | Niagara Newborn Photographer

I’ve been waiting 8 months to do this session! Conan’s parents are good friends of mine, and I knew about him even before his Dad did. One of the perks of being a photographer who photographs pregnancy announcements!! Conan is just as sweet as can be. He was more interested in eating than being a part of this session, but that’s okay. Typically I don’t love wrapped shots because I prefer to see their sweet newborn skin, but they’re growing on me! They’re a great way to start the session when baby isn’t completely asleep yet.  That pout though – hands up if you just made a pouty face too! This was an in-between moment, which I usually wouldn’t photograph, but I loved the way his hair looked so long on his arm!   I LOVE this black and white image.  Conan ROCKED this pose! It was one of the only poses that his mom requested – and the hardest to get! Unless they are completely 100% asleep I won’t even attempt it. The final image looks completely different from the in camera images. It’s a composite of 2 different photographs put together, so baby is supported at all times.

I can’t wait to watch this little guy grow!

Hayley | Niagara Maternity Photographer

I so wish more women did maternity sessions. One of the comments I hear most often is that they want to wait until the baby comes to do portraits. A valid reason – why invest in portraits without the newest addition in them? However more often than not, once the baby comes and you’re on your 5th, 6th, 7th day of sleep deprivation – having your portrait taken with your little one doesn’t sound so appealing. The time and energy it takes to shower, put on makeup (to hide the exhaustion) and pull yourself together is too much and parents opt to do portraits of the baby by themselves.

The second comment I hear from Mom’s is that they don’t feel like themselves when pregnant. Ladies, pregnancy is BEAUTIFUL. You may not feel attractive.. beautiful.. like yourself… etc etc, you name it I’ve heard it… but you – are – beautiful! If you think back to other women in your life who were expecting, what comes to mind? Probably that they were glowing, right? So why would you be any different? I treat all my maternity Mama’s to hair and make-up because let’s be real, when you can’t see your feet, let alone bend over to put shoes on, do you really want to do your hair and makeup? It’s a great excuse to be pampered and FEEL as beautiful as you look to everyone else. (A little shout out to Ash Swords and Maeg Lowes for their amazing work on Hayley’s maternity session!)

Can we talk about how adorable Hayley is! Such a sweet lady with a kind soul (Like, can we be friends?!) I can’t wait to meet her little one, Hayley is going to be a great mom!

Hayley REALLY made me work for some real smiles, I’m happy she let loose for a few cause that dimple is adorable! The “Okay, now give me a fake laugh” never fails me. The fake awkward laugh gives way to a real smile. Guhhhh, this girl is way too beautiful and perfect skin to boot, not even fair! As much as I love dresses for maternity sessions, I really enjoy doing a couple casual images as well.   We did this session at Greystone Manor in Niagara Falls. A beautiful, original manor overlooking the Niagara River. A perfect little spot for a weekend getaway in Niagara.

The first time I came to Greystone Manor I knew I had to use this window for a portrait. The chandelier, those original windows, a photographers dream. And being an interior designer, Hayley appreciated them just as much as I did!

Everly | Niagara Child Photographer

Everly is an expressive little girl. From the minute she was born she has been her own person. Looking at her you can’t help but think she has such an old soul. Throughout her first year I captured her newborn, 4 month, 9 month and 1 year portraits! Everly’s mom and I came up with a theme for her portraits that we carried throughout the year. They are perfect for her personality!  When Tara suggested a teepee, my first thought “great, now I have to figure out how to make a teepee” but I think it turned out pretty good! I came across the doily hoops in my closet the day before the session and knew I had to include them!
Everly is so sweet with her littler hands. She really knows how to work them! “In between” portraits. I love Everly’s hands in the right image, reminds me of the emoji – cracks me up every time I see it.  4 Months and One Year, quite the difference. I can never believe how fast time goes by.
Sometimes after a successful portraits session you need to throw on a little “Burning Man” by Dierks and have a dance party! Although I LOVE Dierks – this was Everly’s favourite and had nothing to do with me. Can’t say I minded!

William | Niagara Newborn Photographer

On a snowy day in January I drove to Port Colborne to photograph William. When I arrived Mom and Dad had a fire going in the fireplace, it was nice and cozy for little William – and me! Is there anything better than a real wood fire?!! At 6 pounds and 19 inches, you would never know that he was born more than a month early.    That little tuff of hair. Too cute not to capture!  When I saw a bunch of buffalo plaid in the house I knew I had to incorporate it into William’s portraits.  This family is so sweet. I’m happy that Dad agreed to be in a couple portraits. William had some smiles for us too!

Isaac | Niagara Newborn Photographer

Isaac arrived early and was already a month old when I captured his portraits. He was still as sleepy as ever though! We even managed to get some great open eyed portraits – and smiles!  I love capturing all their little details.  Wide-eyed and content.  Isaac posed himself, he’s a professional already! I love this colour green with his red hair, goes together perfectly!

River | Niagara Newborn Photographer

Little River was full of smiles and put up quite the fight. But we got the sweetest open eyed portraits of this handsome little man.  I loved taking portraits of River and his big sister. She loves her little brother so much! Bright eyed and adorable.  I am so amused by these portraits. River decided to poop – without a diaper – mid pose. Priceless!

I’m so happy for this beautiful family. I can’t wait to see them again.
