I so wish more women did maternity sessions. One of the comments I hear most often is that they want to wait until the baby comes to do portraits. A valid reason – why invest in portraits without the newest addition in them? However more often than not, once the baby comes and you’re on your 5th, 6th, 7th day of sleep deprivation – having your portrait taken with your little one doesn’t sound so appealing. The time and energy it takes to shower, put on makeup (to hide the exhaustion) and pull yourself together is too much and parents opt to do portraits of the baby by themselves.
The second comment I hear from Mom’s is that they don’t feel like themselves when pregnant. Ladies, pregnancy is BEAUTIFUL. You may not feel attractive.. beautiful.. like yourself… etc etc, you name it I’ve heard it… but you – are – beautiful! If you think back to other women in your life who were expecting, what comes to mind? Probably that they were glowing, right? So why would you be any different? I treat all my maternity Mama’s to hair and make-up because let’s be real, when you can’t see your feet, let alone bend over to put shoes on, do you really want to do your hair and makeup? It’s a great excuse to be pampered and FEEL as beautiful as you look to everyone else. (A little shout out to Ash Swords and Maeg Lowes for their amazing work on Hayley’s maternity session!)
Can we talk about how adorable Hayley is! Such a sweet lady with a kind soul (Like, can we be friends?!) I can’t wait to meet her little one, Hayley is going to be a great mom!
Hayley REALLY made me work for some real smiles, I’m happy she let loose for a few cause that dimple is adorable! The “Okay, now give me a fake laugh” never fails me. The fake awkward laugh gives way to a real smile.
Guhhhh, this girl is way too beautiful and perfect skin to boot, not even fair!
As much as I love dresses for maternity sessions, I really enjoy doing a couple casual images as well.
We did this session at Greystone Manor in Niagara Falls. A beautiful, original manor overlooking the Niagara River. A perfect little spot for a weekend getaway in Niagara.

The first time I came to Greystone Manor I knew I had to use this window for a portrait. The chandelier, those original windows, a photographers dream. And being an interior designer, Hayley appreciated them just as much as I did!
