Summer Specials vs Mini Sessions

Some of you may be wondering – Why Summer Specials, why not Mini Session?

Well, if you know me, then you probably know that I don’t like offering mini sessions. They’re great in theory! I love the length of the session (half an hour vs. an hour), and for my clients, it’s the only time that I offer the sale of digital files independently without their printed version. But they’ve always caused me so much stress. From finding a location, to scheduling and working around the rain and the lighting. But the biggest issue – coming up with a set-up. Oh, the set-up, my nemesis.

My style of photography is very clean and simple and having a set-up for my mini sessions to emphasize a theme broke my heart. Every. Single. Time. I went into the sessions stressed to the max and it may be unprofessional  to say this, but I think it showed in my work. (Except for my Halloween Mini Session, I truly do love those and they’re not going anywhere!)

I always felt the minis were lacking the personal touch of a full session. There wasn’t the usual pre-consultation before the session or in-person viewing session afterwards, and the sessions themselves were assembly line. Stand here. Do this. Smile. Next! And that is so not me and not the customer service I want to offer my clients.

So, then why did I do it? I always felt the pressure to offer mini sessions because, well, everyone else is doing it and my clients love it! A short little session at a good price point and the option to purchase digital files. All you could ever want, right?

Wrong! What about a 30 minute session that’s all about YOU. No more stress about what happens if your kids don’t co-operate, knowing you only have 30 minutes and there is someone scheduled right after you (and probably already waiting for you to finish).  YOU choose the time and – wait for it – THE DAY that works best for YOU. YOU choose the location. YOU choose the package that’s best for you. YOU receive a pre-consulation beforehand to go over outfits and location options and an in person viewing session (or video call view session during covid) to help you narrow down the images that want. And while I still strongly believe in printing your photographs, I know that everyone still wants digital files so I’m offering digital files in the packages.

I hope you’re as excited about these changes as I am! So, without further ado, here they are!

Kylie&Jon | Niagara Engagement Photographer

A beautiful couple, the beach, at sunset – the stars aligned! A lot of planning went into this session. From outfit co-ordination to making sure we got the timing right for the sunset and just hoping for a sunny day and a great sunset!

Kylie mentioned during the pre-consultation that she doesn’t like being in front of the camera (she’s a natural though, you’d never know!) and Jon on the other hand was soaking it all up. It’s great when the guy enjoys the session, makes for some great natural shots and creative poses.

While I was waiting for Kylie and Jon to arrive at the location I noticed this perfect little spot. I was hoping that they would be troopers and trek in through the weeds and grass and who knows what, and they were! SO WORTH IT.

Kylie and I know each other from when we were in Girl Guides together, and I remember now why she had the nickname Giggles. We had so many laughs during this session. Mostly laughing through poses that felt awkward but look great. I think they trust me now that they’ve seen their portraits! Am I right Kylie? That is one of the many reasons I love photographing couples before their wedding. It’s a great way to break the ice and build up a trust before the big day! Bugs, annoying little things, but they sure do look magical when they’re backlit!  Gahhh! These two are the cutest. I can’t even.  Jon requested a photograph of their matching tattoos, how could I say no?? I love them! Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect sunset – or location. OR COUPLE!  I truly can not wait to photograph their wedding in September.

Amanda&Joel | Niagara Engagement Photographer

I met Amanda and Joel for the first time at their engagement session (since they live out of town) and I have never laughed so much during a session. It’s clear to see that these two are made for each other!  When we arrived at Botanical Gardens it was down pouring. Luckily it stopped and we were able to dodge the rain – during the session at least.. Thanks again for saving me when my car wouldn’t start..in the rain..with full bladders. If it was any other client I had just met, I would never have sent the “Do you have booster cables?” text. But I feel like you two are long lost friends and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding!

Rob&Melissa | Niagara Wedding Photographer

These high school sweethearts are getting married! Rob & Melissa started the session a little uncomfortable in front of the camera, but it made for some super adorable candid shots. It didn’t take them long to become pros – that’s one of the main reasons I include a complimentary engagement session with every wedding package. It gives us a chance to get to know each other before the big day and for the Bride & Groom to get comfortable in front of the camera.  These two are way too sweet.
These two rocked their session!  I can’t wait to celebrate your love in September!

Katelyn&Colin | Niagara Engagement Photographer

liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer01 After 8 years of dating my good friends Katelyn and Colin are FINALLY engaged! I have been looking forward this session for a while now. I took these two (and Kali of course!) down to the quarry for their portrait session. Photographing friends can sometimes be difficult and that was definitely the case with these two – they didn’t want to be cuddly and romantic in their portraits (how do you capture engagement portraits without that?!) but I enjoyed the challenge!liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer02 liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer03Their fur baby, Kali, stole a show a few times during their session. liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer04 I tricked them into a couple of cutesy-wootsy images though “I’m just going to take a shot of Kali with you guys blurry in the background. Just do whatever back there.”  heheheliz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer05 liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer06During the session these two proposed to me – “Will you be our wedding photographer?” and gave me an adorable camera necklace (which I am wearing right now!). Of course I said YES! and I can’t wait to capture what I know will be a beautiful wedding. The necklace and proposal was such a nice gesture. Sometimes choosing between photographer, guest or bridesmaid can be difficult when your friend is a photographer, I am completely honoured and so happy that I didn’t have to be the one to make that decision!liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer07 Love this laughing one! liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer08 Katelyn, you are too gorgeous! liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer09 Completely unposed moments are my absolute favourite!! This image is 100% “Katelyn and Colin”.liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer10 liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_grimsby_engagement_wedding_photographer11WAY north or over in Manitoba, wherever you two wed, I’ll be there with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. So happy for you two and your fur babies!

Danielle&Dylan|Niagara Engagement Photographer

liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding_photographer005When you plan a winter portrait session this is exactly what you dream of. Driving to this little nook it was snowing and blowing so bad we almost had to turn back but as soon as we turned down the Firelane the wind stopped and the snow was falling perfectly – you know the snow I’m talking about – the sun even came out long enough to snap a few photographs.  Ah, just perfect. A photographers dream.
liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding_photographer001These two are good friends of mine and I can’t wait to be a part of their September wedding – but this time on the other side of the camera! – such a nice treat being able to put down my camera and truly be present.

I love spontaneous moments like this. One of my favourite images from the session. They’re so great together. liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding_photographer002liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding_photographer006 liz_czinege_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding_photographer2I’m so happy for you two! Brianna & Keith | Niagara Couple Photographer

liz czinege couple engagement photographer02Brianna, of Hillier Photography, is based out of Waterloo, Ontario. We got in touch via Facebook – one way or another, you know how those things happen – and we realized that we both attended Fanshawe College (Brianna a year ahead) and we had never met! We’ve been chatting, making plans to work alongside each other, but when Brianna asked me to capture some new head shots for her I was immediately nervous! It is a huge compliment when a fellow photographer asks you to photograph them, but it is 100% completely nerve-wracking! But like always, once I started shooting the nerves were gone and we had a lot of fun! liz czinege couple engagement photographer05 liz czinege couple engagement photographer04 liz czinege couple engagement photographer01 liz czinege couple engagement photographer06 After Brianna and I were finished with her portraits we dragged Keith in for a few. Dan&Danielle | Niagara Engagement Photographer

liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding02

Meet Dan and Danielle (Yes, yes, they know! Daniel and Danielle. Ha Ha.) Or as I affectionately like to call them, Dan² (Dan-Squared).

Danielle and Dan met exactly two years before their engagement session. Dan was born in Poland. He speaks Polish and plays the accordion – an instant hit with Danielle’s mom. Not to mention he is caring, funny and cleans up after himself, everything you want in a man. (Plus.. wait until you see the ring!) Danielle could not have found anyone more perfect for her. The more time I spend with them, the more I see how perfect they are for each other.

liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding01 liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding03liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding04 I normally don’t share this many images, but I just couldn’t help myself. liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding05 liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding06 liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding07Dan² started dating around the same time that I start dating Danielle’s brother (where’s my ring?!) I was honoured when they asked me to photograph their wedding and I’m so excited! I’ve gotten to know Dan² over the past few years, but over the last few months I’ve gotten to spend a lot more time with them. We get along really well, mostly because they get my sense of humour. I would be more than happy to one day add these two to my family. liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding08liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding09How beautiful are their babies going to be – I can’t wait to become an (almost) Aunt again!
liz_czinege_photography_niagara_hamilton_engagement_wedding10You’ll see these two again when I photograph their October wedding, it’s going to be a fun day! I honestly can not wait to see these two get married!

Tara&Seth | Niagara Engagement Photographer

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing Tara and Seth in Stevensville.

These two have been together for three years. From the time I’ve spent with them I can tell that they are great together, and are wonderful parents to their massive furry baby! And although I’m sure Seth loathed me for making him pose in front of the camera, I love the way their portraits turned out.

liz czinege niagara hamilton engagement photographer_1 The photography gods have been on my side lately!  It had been cold and rainy all day but it stopped a few minutes before our session – and the sun even came out! While I was driving home it started to rain again, talk about luck!liz czinege niagara hamilton engagement photographer_3 liz czinege niagara hamilton engagement photographer_2 liz czinege niagara hamilton engagement photographer_4 liz czinege niagara hamilton engagement photographer_5 I’m so glad they decided to bring Cavot along! liz czinege niagara hamilton engagement photographer_7I can not wait to photograph their intimate backyard wedding next October.
