Deanna&Matty | Mommy&Me | Niagara Family Photographer

It is such an honor to spend time with Deanna&Matty, being a photographer herself it means a lot that she would choose me to photograph her family.

I met Deanna when I was a student at Lakeshore. She was both teacher&mentor for my senior years – and also a professional photographer. Unsure of what I wanted to do with my life, I took a range of subjects – science, math, arts – I kept my options open.

Some members of my family looked down on becoming a photographer and tried to convince me to get a more reliable career, one that you could make a million dollars doing. At one point I even thought of becoming a nurse – they almost got to me! In my heart there was that nagging feeling that I wouldn’t be happy unless I had a camera in my hand.  Newborn&kids were my passion and I knew that photography was what I wanted to be doing.

Money isn’t everything. Yes you need money to survive, but being happy is the most important thing in life. This hasn’t been an easy trip – and I still have a long way to go – but luckily there are people in my life who support me and believe in what I’m doing. I couldn’t do it without them.  I am so glad that I didn’t listen to those people telling me I couldn’t do it. Every day I push myself to become better; a better photographer, a better person and I do it to show those people that I can.

Deanna is one of those teachers who truly care about their students. It was Deanna that gave me the push I needed to follow my dreams – and assured me that yes, I could make a living as a photographer – with a lot of hard work! In the face of all those negative voices telling me I couldn’t do it, Deanna gave me the confidence&support to follow my dreams and I am forever grateful.

I’ve been taking photos of my niece every Spring&Fall since she was born. She is far more willing to be photographed then her brother! Last Spring I took photos of her and my nephew – which are some of my favourite photos to date, I may be biased, but hey! – so this year I thought it was time to update the family photos and include my brother.

Any photographer will tell you, sometimes it’s harder to photograph family then it is to photograph a first time client. But last May was one of those perfect days when the kids behaved and the weather was perfect. This is one of the photos – it was a completely natural shot – Matthias put his arm around his little sister all by himself. ((View more photos here.))

I love watching Matthias&Eliza grow up. Looking back at photos it’s crazy how much kids change in one year! I love them to bits!

Liz Czinege Family Photographer Niagara Hamilton9Last week we were very lucky and caught one of the last orchards to be in bloom, I looked everywhere and eventually I found one!  With a little bribery on my part I got some beautiful photographs of my brother&kids. My nephew is obsessed with sea animals, so after the session we drove to Big Al’s Pet Store in Hamilton to look at some saltwater fish. They have a lot of Nemo’s, Dory’s and Gill’s plus they have a shark – pretty cool! – needless to say, I think it was a pretty fair trade.

Ava | First Communion

In March I got an email from Shelley inquiring about photographing her daughter before her First Communion. After I met with the Shelley&Peter I knew it was going to be a great session. Shelley had arranged for Ava to get their hair done in the morning, she had a beautiful white dress to wear – with a tiara! – and the photos were to be taken at the Crowne Plaza in Niagara Falls before brunch. I had never been there before but they assured me it was a beautiful old building, they definitely didn’t oversell it – it’s gorgeous!

The morning of the First Communion and Ava and her family were undoubtedly up early. Ava was such a trooper for me; she smiled beautifully – even through quite a few yawns. It was only 10am, her day was just beginning and she was already tired, poor girl! But it was worth it, she looked like a little bride – so pretty – and she will have these photos to look back on for the rest of her life.

The Seca’s are a gorgeous family, I loved working with them! They definitely made it easy on me – perfect smiles all around!Liz Czinege Child Photographer Niagara Hamilton013

Of course we had to get a few glamor shots of Hannah&Noah for mom – it’s not every day that the whole family is dressed up!

I love the old architecture in this building. Built in 1929, the Crowne Plaza was originally named Hotel General Brock, after Sir Isaac Brock.  Liz Czinege Child Photographer Niagara Hamilton04

Shelley took this photo of Ava and I before I left and was nice enough to send it to me. I love having photos with my clients!

Tara&Derek | Niagara Wedding Photographer

On a mild November day, I photographed Tara&Derek’s wedding with my close friend and fellow photographer Vicki Rivers.

I arrived at the Tara’s sisters house in the morning and was greeted by the usual pre-wedding chaos; hair spray flying and Christmas music playing ( November??!) So escaped upstairs for a few minutes to get some detail shots.

During our pre-wedding consultations Tara asked me to capture this special photo of her niece.

Tara’s mother passed away when she was young, and subsequently Tara and her sister, Kelly, grew up very close. It was just the two sisters in the room while she was getting dressed, it was a sweet moment. Kelly’s hands shook while she was doing up her sisters dress, nerves&excitement that you would expect from the mother of the bride.

When I met with Tara before the wedding, I could tell how much she loved her three beautiful Sheltie’s. She brought the dogs to her sisters house so I could capture a few photos of her babies on her wedding day. A lot of Brides I’ve photographed worry about their dress getting dirty or ripped throughout the day, but not Tara, she let her dogs to sit on her dress – what a trooper!

After photographing the guys in the morning, Vicki met up with me at the church. While waiting at the church Tara told us about how much Derek loves hockey and her surprise for him – a hockey glove, instead of a pillow, for the ring barrier to walk up the aisle with!

Throughout the day Tara&Derek had photos and little reminders of their relatives who had passed away so they could be there in spirit to share the day. After much laughing – and spilt sand – Tara&Derek’s unity sand was complete.

We did the formal photos at Oak Hall in Niagara Falls, a great venue! [I’m a sucker for old buildings!]

Kerri&Ryan | 09/29/12

Last spring I had a lot of fun taking Kerri&Ryan’s engagement photos at Point Abino. As we talked about their wedding plans, I grew even more excited to capture their wedding.

It was a beautiful, warm September day when I arrived at the Bride’s house. Kerri chose to have two of her four younger sisters to help her dressed. Even with the chaos that comes with eight girls getting ready, it proved to be an intimate moment for the three sisters. A moment that they had imagined and rehearsed countless times growing up.

Before the ceremony we stopped at HH Knoll Park to take some photos of the beautiful Dyson family.
Each bridesmaid wore a different colour dress with a matching hairpiece and ribbon on their bouquet. This was such a great idea, as it made for unique photos!

The ceremony took place in Kerri’s childhood church. After the “I do’s” were exchanged, Kerri’s Grandad bagpiped the newlyweds out of the church – it was a very special moment!

I had a lot of fun with this wedding party – they were great fun! Kerri&Ryan

Such a gorgeous bride! Kerri&Ryan

Photographing my best friend’s sister was a great experience, but on top of that I got the opportunity to see (and photograph!) inside of a house I’ve always been curious about.  As a photographer, I am always thinking to myself “I’d love to photograph there.” Sometimes your dreams come true, and I couldn’t think of a better location to photograph Kerri&Ryan!

I had some fun with this shot, I’m so in love with historic houses!

Kerri&RyanCandy by Katie supplied the candy and decorated the table at the reception. Of course it was a huge hit, when you’re presented with a table filled with candy you can’t help but let your inner child loose! There was a little something for everyone. Kerri&Ryan Montage - CandyKerri&Ryan

I love the wedding party in the background of the first dance. Kerri&RyanFor me, and I’m sure for many of the guests, this was one of the most memorable moments of the day. When Kerri invited her sisters to join her for the Father Daughter dance I don’t think that there was a dry eye in the room.
